A Guide to the Faces

It would be easy to argue that the faces are the heart and soul of the classic Thomas & friends series. Without them, the characters we know and love would simply be regular locomotives, devoid of the human characteristics that make them relatable to us. Despite the reputation they have gained for being "static" and "creepy", the faces are what gave the characters life and were an extremely important aspect of the show for over 20 years. How the faces were made The faces were originally sculpted in clay atop clear Perspex panels with eye shaped half spheres attached to them to act as the character's eyeballs. This was so the eye holes would match up to the eyes on the prop. Each character had a different plate with their own correct eye spacing on which their faces were sculpted. A Guide to the Rolling Stock

Another hugely important aspect of the Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends model series we have yet to discuss is the rolling stock. The rolling stock in our opinion, is really what grounded the series and combined with the sets, gave our colorful train characters a more grimy and realistic foil. One could argue the frequent use and presentation of mostly realistic looking rolling stock is what separated Thomas from any other generic train related children's show, where the people behind it barely had any clue how a railway actually works. Most fans can agree it the rolling stock was a big part of charm the model series had, particularly in the first 5 seasons. An Unfortunate Situation

We’d like to start this off by saying that writing this blog is not something we wanted to do, nor is it easy for us to finally come out and say all this. We did not want to have to put this whole thing out there publicly and have tried to avoid doing so for the past 6 years. Before any accusations are made against us, we want to note that if we were looking to cause drama and start trouble, we would have exposed this stuff years ago and not held onto it for this long in hopes a peaceful reconciliation could be reached behind closed doors.
